Hard Rock Hotel

Last night we and our tight little circle of friends (we affectionatly refer to the "Crew") went to eat at the Turf Club. You can find the 8 of us at the Turf Club every Friday night! Its like our own little version of an "Elks Lodge" ha!

Anyhow, one of our friends knows people who knows people etc...and after dinner he took us all to the Hard Rock in downtown to watch Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas. (which felt kinda weird, because while we were in nyc last week we saw Wolverine and Will.I.Am is in it)

It was a great night!
Great Friends,

Great Food,
Great Music
You cant ask for much more...

he's much cuter than John Cusak-dont'cha think? (Michael at Serendipity III) NYC May 2009

After consuming just a little too much vodka for my own good the previous night. I made a quick recovery and set off to do some things that I've always wanted to do in nyc but never have gotten around too.

I've always wanted to take the tram over Roosevelt Island.
I've always wanted to go to SERENDIPITY III (because Serendipity is one of my all-time favorite movies ever!)

We managed to do both of those things on a lovely rainy Sunday afternoon. Thank you Michael for always making my dreams (no matter how big or small) come true!

back from nyc :(

NYC gets harder to leave. And it usually takes me a day or two to get back into SD living.
Our trip was fantastic, but then again I dont think I've ever had a bad experience in nyc...

I ordered a ton of new lines for Holiday 09' :)

Saturday, we met Jorge Bache at a place in SoHo named Pravda. The underground restaraunt/bar sits in the middle of a desolate street in SoHo and so we must've walked past it about 5x before Michael noticed that there was a small (and I mean small) lit red box. As we stepped closer to the lit little box we realized it said PRAVDA. Spelled out in small indiscreet letters. We made the treck downstairs thinking we'd be the only ones here and as soon as the doorman opened the door (yes, its super exclusive and you need to be on some sort of secret list to get in..) we realized that there was a few hundred people inside. The restaraunt looks like it could be an abandonned bunker and it gives off a certain vibe. Like any minute the KGB is going to walk in, or like you'll run into 007 at the bar kinda vibe. The decor is amazing and the food is a fusion of Russian/Latin. Pravda specializes in making their own Vodka.

I caught up with Jorge as if we'd only seen eachother a day ago. I think that's the sign of great friendship-when you can go a whole 5 years without seeing someone and then pick up right where you left off...

Jorge Bache managed to do 2 things that NO ONE has ever been able to get me to do!
FIRST, He had me try and quite to my surprise enjoy CAVIAR!
SECOND, He managed to get me and Michael too :) ...totally and completly DRUNK!

We ended up going to 3 different places that night. And somehow we all ended up in the Bowery.
But how or when I got home Im not exactly sure...It was one of those nights that can only be had in NYC, with great company, great vodka and yummy caviar!

Jorge Bache the Art Director...

Back when I worked for the phone company (seems like forever ago now...) I had a co-worker/friend named Jorge Bache. Jorge was going to art school and wanted to pursue a career in graphic design. Back then we would each talk about pursuing our dreams, mine was to be my own boss and do something in fashion. Jorge's was to do something relating to art and design. What's funny about our talks back then is that none of our other co-workers really believed us when we would tell them that one day we would leave the phone company.

Well, almost 5 years have passed now and I am still living my dream of running my shop and I am super happy to report that Jorge Bache is living out his dream as well!
Jorge is now the Art Director for Ogilvy and Mather a very well known, super-prestigious Advertising Agency. Jorge lives and works in Manhatten. (IM BEYOND JEALOUS!)

So, Im leaving tonite to NYC to attend Intermezzo and to visit a couple of my favorite showrooms. We'll also be going out to dinner and drinks with Jorge to catch up on Saturday night. I cant wait to see him! I wonder what the folks at the phone company would say now?... :-)

*By the way! Jorge is also credited with creating our official "NYLA Kensington" logo! (I think it was a homework project for him when he was still in art school!) hahaha!
